Time to get spooky: A playlist from the WXJM Web Team

By Karlee Lewis

With the sudden drops in temperature, color changing leaves, and the return of pumpkin spice flavored everything, it is obvious that fall has begun. With fall comes many things, including Halloween and spooky frights. To avoid these from happening, WXJM has compiled a list of songs to remind you what to look out for.

  1. As you work your way through the month, be weary of “Zombies” or creatures with “Rhinestone Eyes.” They cannot be trusted. (Though it may be difficult to see at first, there are noticeable differences between an actual zombie and a college student who hasn’t gotten sleep in weeks. Look for the slightly blue skin tone to determine the authenticity.)
  2. Depending on your beliefs, you may come across a “Ghost” or even the “Antichrist, but it’s probably best to avoid these and move along without making a commotion.
  3. Stay clear of the “Graveyard” this time of year, unless you want to end up with an unwanted guest following you around.
  4. Even without the ghastly ghouls that come out, “Total Darkness” can still contain frights that wouldn’t be as spooky in the daylight hours, so be weary of late hours.

No matter your mood or taste, I am sure you can find something relevant to your interests in our playlist. If you’re looking for something heavier, I would head towards “Black Wedding” by In This Moment. If that isn’t something you’re into, “Zombie” by The Cranberries, “Ghost” by Sir Sly, or “Nearly Witches (Ever Since We Met)” by Panic! At the Disco are all upbeat alt-pop rock tunes. If you’re looking for something funkier, “Zombies!” by Childish Gambino and “Total Darkness” by RP Boo are both good options. “Rhinestone Eyes” by Gorillaz, “Ghosting” by Freelance Whales, “Antichrist” by The 1975, and “Luna (Moon of Claiming)” by Cemeteries are all slow, easy listening songs that would be good as background music during a midterm study session. “Ghost” by Neutral Milk Hotel and “Graveyard” by The Devil Makes Three are two unique indie tunes to put the cherry on top.

Whatever the season means to you, whether it be the stressing over midterms, making plans for Halloweekend, or even curling up with a latte and a warm sweater, our compiled playlist is sure to feature some tunes that will resonate and get you in the spirit.
